Flower Crop Top

I designed this crop top for the gal who is not afraid of a little bit of risk! Yes it is "slightly" revealing, but hey if ya got the balls, why not?!

I used a Dk (light worsted or weight 3) cotton yarn. I'm nearly sure I used Sirdar. I also used a size 4mm crochet hook.

To make the cups:

Make 12 double crochets into a magic ring. Slip stitch into the first double crochet you made.

Chain 5, skip 1st chain and single crochet into the remaining 4 chains. Slip stitch into the next stitch. Repeat all the way around. and close with a slip stitch to the last stitch. You should end up with 12 petals.
Cut the yarn and fasten off.

Attach your yarn to the top of any petal with a slip stitch. Make 2 single crochets at the very top of the petal.

*Chain 3 and move onto the next petal. Make 2 single crochets on the top of this petal.* Repeat from * to * all the way around. When you have finished with your last petal make a chain 3 and then slip stitch into the very first single crochet that you made at the beginning of the round.

Chain 1, single crochet into the same space, single crochet into the next stitch, then make 3 single crochets into the chain 3 space. Repeat all this all the way around making sure to single crochet into the 2 single crochets at the top of the petals and make 3 single crochets into the chain 3 spaces. At the end of this round make a slip stitch to the first single crochet of the round.

Chain 2 (not counted as the first double crochet). Make a double crochet into the same space. Make 1 double crochet into the next 4 stitches.
then make 1 half double crochet into the next stitch,
then make 1 single crochet into the next 8 stitches
then 1 half double crochet into the next stitch,
then make 1 double crochet into the next 5 stitches, chain 3,
** then make 1 double crochet into the next 5 stitches,
then make 1 half double crochet into the next stitch,
then make 1 single crochet into the next 8 stitches,
then make 1 half double crochet into the next stitch,
then make 1 double crochet into the next 5 stitches, chain 3**. Repeat from ** one more time. Slip stitch to the very first stitch you made at the start of the round.

Chain 2 and double crochet all your way around to the next chain 3 space. In this space make (3 double crochet, chain 2, 3 double crochet). Continue making a double crochet into each stitch around making sure you (3 double crochet, chain 2, 3 double crochet) into the two remaining chain 3 spaces. When you reach the end of the round make a slip stitch into the first stitch that you made at the beginning of the round.

If you want the cups bigger repeat the last round until it fits.

Cut yarn and fasten off. Weave in all ends. Go ahead and make your second cup in the same way.

The body of the top:

With a new piece of yarn chain 20. With the wrong side of the cup facing you and working on the bottom edge, attach your chain 20 with a double crochet to the corner chain 2 space. Double crochet all the way across the bottom edge of the cup making sure to put your last double crochet into the corner chain 2 space.

Attach to the second cup by making a double crochet into the corner chain 2 space (making sure the second cup is also wrong side facing. Double crochet all the way across this cup making sure the last double crochet is made in the corner chain 2 space.

With yarn still attached chain 22. Double crochet into the 2nd chain from the hook. Double crochet all the way across the bottom edge of the top and also into the chain 20 on the other side.

Chain 2, turn and double crochet all the way across. Repeat the row until you have reached your preferred length of top. Cut yarn and fasten off. Weave in all ends.

The space between the two cups was a bit too far apart for my liking so what I did was cut a very long piece of my yarn and weave in through the two cups like so in the picture above.

For the straps I just chained 100-110 and single crocheted to the chain 2 space on the peak of the cups.

Then attach yarn to a corner on the body part of the top and chain 150. Repeat this for the three remaining corners.

You're now finished. Enjoy xx
