Crochet Sweetheart Headband

Hey guys and dolls! Today I have this super cute heart headband pattern for you all. I simply fell in love with the color combinations that I used which were burgundy and an oatmeal shade with subtle dark flecks throughout. I really do think those two colors go together like a dream.

This project might seem a little difficult just by looking at the heart detail on the band but I promise yo all it is really quite simple.

To make this headband you will need a worsted weight yarn and a 5mm crochet hook.

Band:

Using your main color:

Chain 75, half double crochet into the 3rd chain from the hook. Half double crochet across the row to the end. Chain 1 and turn.

Single crochet across the row but change to your heart color before you finish the last single crochet.

***Chain 3 and into the same stitch, make a bobble stitch (wrap yarn around hook, insert hook into the stitch, bring up loop, yarn over and bring through 2 stitches on hook, yarn over and insert hook into same stitch again, yarn over and bring up a loop, yarn over and bring through two stitches on hook, yarn over and bring through the last three stitches on the hook).

Chain 2, skip the next 5 stitches, and in the 6th stitch make a bobble stitch ( yarn over, insert hook into stitch, bring up a loop, yarn over and bring through two stitches on hook, yarn over and insert hook into same stitch again, yarn over and bring up a loop, yarn over and bring through two stitches on hook, yarn over and insert hook into same stitch again, yarn over and bring up a loop, yarn over and bring through two stitches on hook, yarn over and bring through the last four stitches on hook.

Chain 2 and make another bobble stitch into the very same stitch.

Chain 2 and skip the next 5 stitches. In the 6th stitch make a bobble, chain 2 and make another bobble into the same stitch.

Repeat the row above until you reach the end of the row, however when you reach the last stitch just make one bobble stitch. Change back to your main color.

Chain 1 and single crochet into the top of the bobble.

*Now I want you to look at the row of single crochets that you did in your main color (the second row that you did). You will notice your 5 skipped stitches, right?!! Make a single crochet into the 2nd stitch of the 5 skipped stitches. Single crochet into the next two stitches. You may have to stretch your yarn a little to reach those three stitches.

Chain 2 and single crochet into the middle of your heart (the chain two space between the two bobble stitches that forms your heart. Chain 2* and repeat from * to * to the end

When you reach the end, chain two and single crochet into the top of the bobble stitch.

Chain 3 and make double crochets across the row to the end.

Chain 1 and single crochet all the way across making sure that you change to your heart color before you finish your last single crochet.*** Repeat from *** to *** once more.

Fasten off and weave in all the loose ends. Sew one or two buttons to one end of the band.

Bow:

Chain 40, join with a slip stitch to the 1st chain to create a circle. Chain 2 and double crochet around. Place your marker and continue with double crochet for a total of 8- 9 rows. Fasten off leaving a very long tail. Pinch the rectangle in the centre to shape it into a bow and use the long tail to wrap around the middle of the bow. Wrap the tail around the centre a few times to secure properly. Then stitch the bow towards the side of the band and you are now done!

I hope you all enjoyed this pattern. Once you get the hang of the first two or three hearts you will be flying through it...
